A lawyer for Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo is reportedly trying to keep photos of the pair having sex from being published. This week's Life + Style mag shows pics of the couple making out in a jacuzzi in Mexico, and according to TMZ, the photos only show half of their racy exploits. A source who has seen the pics (shot by paparazzi) claims the rest of the roll is "Paris sex-tape-level scandalous." Hollywood attorney Marty Singer has sent a letter of warning to all the weekly gossip mags, advising that if the pictures are published, they will face a hefty lawsuit. "The photos that were taken of our clients by a Mexican photographer violated Mexican law and were a clear invasion of privacy, and we have threatened to take legal action against third parties who publish the photos," Singer told TMZ, calling the photog "outrageous and malicious."

After appearing at this weekend's Concert Diana (though they didn't sit together), Prince William and Kate Middleton once again have royal watchers wondering if their recently announced breakup was all a ruse. A veteran royal follower told Page Six that Wills and Middleton never actually split. "Their closest friends believe it was all a ruse to get Britain's voracious tabloid press off Kate's back," the source said, especially in light of the rampant rumors of an imminent engagement announcement. "William has had recurring nightmares that Kate would meet the same fate [as Princess Diana], literally chased to her death by paparazzi." William is said to have suggested "that they simply make it look as if the romance was completely over. The strategy worked, even though they were in almost constant touch via phone, email and text-messaging ever since. Everyone is rooting for Kate because no one wants to see William make the same mistake Charles made and pass up marrying the woman he fell in love with in the first place."

Britney Spears's mom seems confident that everything will work out between her and her daughter. "Everything is going to be fine," Lynne Spears said this weekend while shopping in Kentwood, just days after being handed legal papers by the popstar. "I've got a strong family, and everything is going to be fine," adding that "hopefully" Britney would be home for a family cookout on the Fourth of July. The younger Spears hit Hollywood hotspot Les Deux on Friday night with a few girlfriends, but seemed subdued, according to witnesses.
